Ling Does NaNoWriMo

Day Two

Hey, we’re going! I’m keeping up fairly well, although we’ll see how long that lasts. (Next weekend will be hilarious, what with the football game and parents in town and five hours of LARP going on.)

I’m a little concerned because my story just seems to be so… I dunno, mundane so far. It’s supposed to be urban fantasy, and that part of the story is introduced in the prologue, but the first few chapters are just the main character stressing out over her everyday life and wondering what’s with the guy she seems to have mysteriously offended in some way. I’m just not sure how to fix that, though. The whole point of the story is that the protagonist doesn’t know anything about the supernatural until she happens to find out accidentally and then has to deal with a lot of crazy stuff. Maybe I should hint at something about the grandmother, because I think I was going to have her at least have some familiarity with the Eldritch side of life.

Eh. Write now, edit later, right?

This is the blog of a WriMo called Ling who is also known as sparklythingy from time to time, especially on the NaNoWriMo forums. Somehow she decided that it sounded like a good idea to try to write a novel in a month. These are her adventures in word-counting and fast typing.
